As 2015 drew to a close I didn’t really have time to reflect on the year just gone – FVE was still flat out with weddings happening left right and centre. Including, one of the busiest weekends of the year to start the month off, then one of my brothers got married in Perth on the 12th and then two very good friends tied the knot on New Years Eve also in Perth at a stunning private property in Bassendean.
Read on for more details of their weddings as well as our other clients throughout December – and some great photos. Enjoy!
The first weekend of December was cray cray busy. We kicked off with a ceremony on Thursday at Evedon Park, in the Ferguson Valley near Bunbury. One of my favourite venues to work at for the tranquil forest and lakeside vibes, and friendly staff.
Friday was a day of deliveries for dry hire jobs including: a backyard wedding in Busselton, backyard hens night in Bunbury, lighting installation in a marquee at Wellington Forest Cottages in the Ferguson Valley, we had some chairs going out to Ferguson Farmstay, hire items to Donnelly River Village, wedding ceremony chairs and arbour for a Bunbury beach, as well as rustic wooden vintage furniture heading down to Jalbrook Cottages in Balingup. Oh my gosh just looking back on this I don’t know how we got through it! But we did.
We also fit in a ceremony arbour set up at Bunkers Bay Resort on the Friday as well! And managed to deliver some lighting and ceremony items for a client DIY set up which was happening on the Saturday at Bunkers Beach Café.
Saturday was great and relatively relaxed because we spent the whole day at Alverstoke Barn in Brunswick setting up for a lovely couple’s wedding ceremony and cocktail style reception. The only issue – the rain. It rained steadily all day and we made the decision to place the reception furniture inside the barn rather than outside on the grass as planned – which saved it all from getting soaked!
After incessant monitoring of the radar and scanning of the skies, we set up the ceremony outside in front of the old schoolroom as planned. It kept raining, kept raining … then at two minutes to 4pm (ceremony start time) the skies cleared and the sun came out! We madly towel-dried all the chairs and the guests (who had been patiently waiting undercover) took their seats. Then the ceremony was done, and the rain began again! Such a lucky break in the weather for this lovely couple to tie the knot.
The next weekend was relatively quiet by comparison. On the Friday we had furniture at the Bunbury Turf Club for the Hot FM/RadioWest Christmas Party. We also had a lovely intimate wedding ceremony and reception dinner to set up at the Regency Beach Club in Dunsborough. Only 16 or so close family and friends, a beautiful dinner by the beach, and a weekend away … sounds pretty good to me!
We had our own little weekend away by heading up to Perth for my brother’s wedding on the Saturday. For once there was nothing for me to do but just rock up looking pretty – a lovely change! They had a cocktail reception at my new sister-in-law’s parents house in Cottesloe and a great night was had by all. No photos to share though – sorry – you’ll have to take my word for it!
Luckily our other jobs for the weekend ended up being dry hires only which meant I could head to Perth relatively stress-free. We had furniture heading to private properties in Cowaramup, Donnybrook and Lowden, as well as Old Broadwater Farm, and a Christmas party at Evedon Park on the Sunday as well.
The following weekend we had a Friday wedding at Abbey Beach Resort where we set up the ceremony and provided table decorations and reception styling.
We also had a bridal shower/hens day delivery to make up at Madora Bay near Mandurah for a couple of good friends of mine who then went off to marry two weeks later on New Year’s Eve.
For Kate and Michael’s New Year wedding, I couldn’t think of a good gift, so I offered to do their furniture hire instead! They married at a private property in Bassendean right on the Swan River, with 150 guests for a sit-down banquet feast. I loved the floorplan they came up with – a big square of tables with the dancefloor in the middle. It was a truly epic night with lots of chatting, drinking, dancing, great food, great speeches, and lots of love all around.
