We’ve rebranded! From Ferguson Valley Events to Red Gum Events, we’ve fine-tuned what we offer and apart from that, we’re the same people behind the same idea.
The idea for Ferguson Valley Events (FVE) came about in 2013 when owner Charmaine Treasure realised there were limited local services that offered both furniture hire and set-up/styling services for weddings and events, especially in rural locations.
At the time, living in the Ferguson Valley, Charmaine started off small with just 50 chairs, signing table and ceremony arbour to hire, working out of self-storage with her Holden hatchback.
By the end of 2016 FVE had opened a warehouse/office in Bunbury as well as a warehouse/office in Vasse in order to store our massive range of furniture and decorations, and deliveries were much easier with the addition of a truck, ute and van to our fleet.
It was clear that our unique combination of furniture to hire, plus our professional, friendly and down-to-earth approach and excellent local knowledge and relationships with venues and other suppliers, were ticking boxes for wedding couples and corporate clients.
In 2017, Charmaine moved home to Busselton, where she grew up, and FVE’s focus shifted slightly more to weddings in the Margaret River region. We still maintain our presence in Bunbury and in the Ferguson Valley area and adore returning there for weddings and events.
In 2018, Charmaine along with husband Dan bought a rural property in Ludlow (halfway between Capel and Busselton) and now we’re a “home business” with all furniture stored onsite in a massive repurposed shed.
In 2020, the decision to rebrand to Red Gum Events was made to reflect the change in geographical location of the business and our shift to focus on events encompassing the whole southwest. The red gum tree is native to southwest WA and the blossoms in spring and resulting “honkey nuts” are iconic for anyone who has spent time in the southwest. In addition, the word for red gum tree in Nyoongar is “Marri” which is just perfect, considering the amount of weddings we do!
The operation of any small business is inextricably tied up with the motivations and experience of its owner and its staff. We are truly a local business; with Charmaine having grown up in the area and totally passionate about the region.
Charmaine works full-time in the business; from strategic decision making to answering email enquiries to driving the truck to Pemberton to deliver furniture and cleaning chairs. Husband Dan is also an integral behind-the-scenes presence, keeping Charmaine sane and helping her pack the truck at 5am before heading to his “real” job. We also have a great team of casuals that we call upon in summer to make our deliveries and set-ups as smooth and as fast as possible.
The events and wedding industry in the southwest is growing in leaps and bounds and we can’t wait to see what the future will bring for Red Gum Events.
